Kenneth Connolly, a 1980's Republican operative, became Executive Director of the New Jersey Republican State Committee after managing Ralph Salerno's unsuccessful bid to oust then-Senate President Carmen Orechio in 1983. An protege of Andrew Consovoy, who was a top aide to Governor Thomas Kean, Connolly managed James Courter's 1989 gubernatorial campaign. He later went to work for the state Parole Board, where Consovoy was a Commissioner before a scandal forced his own resignation. Â
Now Connolly is the plaintiff in a high profile lawsuit against the state. Connolly claims he objected to the release of reputed mobster Angelo Prisco, and was punished (transferred to a job at the state prison in Newark) for being a whisteblower. He claims the Governor's office ordered Prisco's release, and former Governor James E. McGreevey has been subpoenaed to testify.

political hack
He's a political hack who hung around on the State payroll for a decade. When McGreevey took over, his guys probably tried to force him out so they could appoint one of their own.
But getting a mobster released? Even the McGreevey crew wasn't that brazen.
Connolly's settlement should be re-paid to State by former boss
Kenneth Connolly's former boss, Mario Papparozzi, should be made to pay Connolly's recent 485 thousand settlement. That's theory. As a practical matter it's not going to happen. In any case, Connolly deserves every dime of that 485K. I hope he doesn't have to pay his lawyer out of that. Mario Papparozzi was a victim of his own ego, and an obcession for power and control over others. Unfortunately, just like the Iraqi suicide bomber, he took a lot of inocent people with him. Papparozzi's handling of the Prisco matter reflected his overall management style. It is that style that seriously hurt many, including Ken Connolly. For those who may be interested, and have about a half hour to spare, the sociopathic management style of Mario Papparozzi is detailed at the link shown below.
