Hopefully the GOP will come
Hopefully the GOP will come to it's senses. You can't pick Christie and win.
The GOP will run off the cliff again.
The rank and file will concentrate on local races again and give lip service to whoever is in the Statewide.

I could not disagree with you more. I may be wrong, but I suspect that you are a Democrat that fears a Christie candidacy. He is a dynamic speaker, has a warm and trust-worthy type of personality, and he has a very solid track record in every role he has had in his career... so, what's your basis for saying he could not win? I am truly interested in your thought process.
Because he stands for nothing.
And who wants to nominate "George Bush's number one guy"???
lonegan
sounds like the lonegan crowd is dead scared of christie, you people are pathetic.
Christie
As a Lonegan supporter myself, I'll state right here and now that I have absolutely nothing against Chris Christie and I'm sure Mayor Lonegan doesn't either.
While I believe that Mayor Lonegan is the far more qualified candidate based on record and grassroots campaigning experience, I think that Chris Christie has done a tremendous job as AG trying to clean up corruption in New Jersey.
If anything, as somebody who has filed multiple lawsuits to prevent wasteful spending, I would think that Mayor Lonegan would be very appreciative of somebody like Christie who has worked very hard to lock up corrupt politicians who grow government and steal from taxpayers.
If he were to win the nomination, I would be more than happy to support him. Until then however, Lonegan's the man.

Healthy Debates
NJ needs serious debate on both the economic and corruption issues. So lets keep this primary about the issues. Christie needs to articulate a master economic plan for NJ to make this race interesting.
Yes
A respectful primary about the issues needs to happen.
Which means Shaftan should stop throwing bombs already.
Thats boring
Being respectable has lost elections for Republicans continually.
Chris ain't running
It's day three and he's off on vacation.
Time to get on the bus. It's mighty cold outside.
Christie has the name, reputation, and support
Christie has the name, reputation, and support from within the party to enter the race with momentum enough to put him squarely in the lead regardless of who else enters the race. He then needs to be clear, articulate, and strong in putting forward a conservative message that focuses on smaller government, cleaner government, and lowering personal, property, and business taxation. With this traditionally conservative message, and a smartly implemented campaign will actually have a chance of success. Get on board people, sign-up for volunteering your time, support one candidate that has a chance, then we will have a chance as a party. If we are divided, we will lose again. Keep it clean, positive, and conservative. Demostrate the track record under Democrat "leadership" (using that term lightly) and a clear vision, and we will win.
Conservative Message?
Mr. Babcock, Steve Lonegan has already "put forward a conservative message that focuses on smaller government, cleaner government, and lowering personal, property, and business taxation."
In the end, I think every GOP candidate (for every office) should have this platform, but really, you've given creedence to everything Lonegan stands for.

Do you think any counties will be boarding the bus? Or will they wait and see?

"It's day three and he's off on vacation."
If I had just spent the last eight years trying to clean up political corruption in New Jersey, I'm pretty sure I'd need a vacation too.

He's got the conservative message, but...
Steve Lonegan has the conservative message, sure, but can such anti-immigration, anti-abortion, pro-gun positions win in New Jersey? It's getting pretty darn liberal around here, and I still hold that Republicans would be better off with a more moderate candidate.
