Michael Lapolla will leave his post as Executive Director of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority at the end of June to take a private sector position. The former Union County Freeholder and County Manager has been at his state post for six years.

Corzine will take his sweet time, as usual
I'm setting the over/under on Corzine naming a replacement at October 1st.
LaPolla is said to be a jerk!!
He's a screamer I'm told! And a sexist! Good riddance!
Nothing could be further from the truth, MIL.
Michael is top notch. He helped clean up all kinds of messes left for him in 2002, starting with the broken E-ZPass system. He worked hand-in-glove with Jamie Fox on the Driscoll Bridge project, which was unprecendented at the time because the Turnpike was improving the Parkway.
He has done a serious service to his state. Good luck!
NJ's loss is private sector's gain
ML is a good guy that has done great work at the Turnpike - government needs more people like Lapolla who actually get things done and treat the organization like a business - demanding more of the people who work there. Consolidation with the Parkway reduced headcount and improved operations. Fixing the EZ Pass System. One way tolls on the Parkway. Completing the Driscoll Bridge. Turnpike expansion project. All in only six years!!
Best of luck.
Mom In Law......WAY off base
It sounds like maybe you are the one who is a little unstable.....maybe bitter about your own failures?
Lapolla has done an amazing job running the Turnpike Authority....One-Way Tolls, Express E-ZPass, Completion of the Driscoll Bridge and the upcoming widening projects on the Turnpike and Parkway.
He will be truly missed by all.
Best of Luck!
Mike Lapolla
Mike Lapolla is a piece of GARBAGE. Good Riddens with him. He has CUT the workforce by almost HALF and as a result the VIOLATION rate on the Parkway has grown to double digits. We are ALL paying for those whose choose to take advantage of this. The SIX FIGURE salaries have GROWN in the main office along with the number of "company cars". His relatives have been hired. Now that he has FAILED at giving the Parkway and Turnpike away to private industry, he is AWARDED with a $250,000 a year job with them. Looks like some impropriety may be afoot. I hope the Feds look into his underhanded dealings and throw this SNAKE in the clink. The Parkway is a laughing stock. The "Upper Echelon" is a bunch of over paid MORONS, who definatly got their jobs through political payback. If it was PRIVATE INDUSTRY they would never have the positions they are in. No wonder the state is broke. SOMEONE REALLY NEEDS TO TAKE A CLOSE LOOK AT THE WAY THE TURNPIKE AUTHORITY DOES BUSINESS. He couldn't even take the time to send out his OWN email saying goodbye. My question is, Why would he send out an email in the middle of May if he is still being paid untill the end of June? any answers..........
Where in the private sector....
Maybe he was forced out? One of his assistants was said to have a direct link to one of Corzine's deputies and reported that he was an offensive JERK of the first order...And I never met the guy so I don't have a dog inthe fight. Some of the women in the Turnpike are glad he's gone....
