Vas to run again

Standing on the steps of City Hall this evening shortly before the start of the city council meeting, Perth Amboy Mayor (and Assemblyman) Joseph Vas announced his intentions to again run for the office of mayor, according to his aide Mel Ramos.

"Being mayor of Perth Amboy is not just about where we have been or what we have accomplished. It is about where we are going, our plans to get there, and having the vision and know-how to get there," said Vas. "I am committed to continue my vision of change and progress for the betterment of every resident in the City of Perth Amboy, and am as energized today as I was when I first took the oath of office as your mayor. I promise to work as hard as possible to make Perth Amboy a better place to live, to work, and to raise and educate our children."

First elected mayor in 1990, the 53-year old Vas became an assemblyman in 2004. He unsuccessfully battled Albio Sires in the 2006 Democratic primary to succeed U.S. Rep. Bob Menendez in the 13th Congressional District.

"Despite what has been achieved, I will not rest on our laurels," Vas said tonight. "I am not yet content, because I truly believe that the best days for the City of Perth Amboy are ahead, and I am committed as ever to see that our plans become a reality."

people are smart enough not to vote for this individual, the problem is that he thrives in putting fear in people, businesses and best of all to all the municipal employees, god forbid if a business owner supports the opposite team he will manipulate and will send inspections and health department to shut that business down or to issue fines, he has become the new chavez of nj, people lost respect for him but they fear him, cheating on his wife with his secretary how much respect can you get, bottom line he has become a cancer to this city no need for chimo, just dont vote for that individual, no more vas
