Union County convention

The Union County Republicans will hold their convention to choose a House and Senate candidate tomorrow morning.

The meeting will take place at 8:30 a.m. at Westfield High School.

Among the many candidates competing for the House nod are two from Union County : former Summit Councilwoman P. Kelly Hatfield and Scotch Plains Mayor Marty Marks.

The County’s Republican Chairman, Phil Morin, supports Anne Evans Estabrook for U.S. Senate.  Also competing are state Sen. Joe Pennacchio and Ramapo College finance professor Murray Sabrin.

HOW MUCH?

The County’s Republican Chairman, Phil Morin, supports Anne Evans Estabrook for U.S. Senate

I wonder how much money Estabrook gave Union. The $6,000 she gave Bergen County turned into a whopping 6 votes or $1,000 per vote, albeit, it wasn't the Convention.

More of the same tomorrow for the establishment candidate who can't win the establishment vote?

Hatfield Wins Tomorrow

Hatfield should win the 7th CD vote in Union tomorrow. She's been out there talking to committeepeople, Marks has been too busy talking to the pro-life crowd. Marks should do the honorable thing and pull out and focus on winning a third term in Scotch Plains, he's been a good mayor and he should stay a good mayor.

Even if

Hatfield wins the convention in Union County, where does she go from there?  How does the weakest pro-choice candidate compete against the likes of Lance and Whitman?  The answer is, she doesn't.  Kelly Hatfield's campaign ends at the Union County convention on Saturday.  At best she can call herself the winner of a convention (big deal!).  At worst, she loses her convention and drops out.  Not a great scenario for her in either case.

I think you have the terms wrong

These people are not "pro-choice", they are pro-abortion.  Talk to them for five minutes and you will see how they can cite case after case where they think abortion is "good" or "necessary."

This is the fruit of an intense hatred of Catholics that these individuals suppress in public but not in private conversations.

Pro-Choice Does NOT Equal Pro Abortion

If someone is pro-choice is means they want a person to be able to make a choice and not have the government tell someone what to do with their body. In fact many pro-choice people want limited abortion and are personally not fans of abortions but want to allow people to have a choice. Unfortunatly the far right has used scare tactics like this as part of their attempt to hijack the Republican Party and turn it into a Conservative Party.

Comments like that are why Republicans can't win in New Jersey and why Marty Marks WILL NOT become a congressman. I hope he likes dentistry because that's where he is staying.

You don't even believe that yourself.

When you say "limit abortions", limit to what?  The abortions you think are "good."  If you want to limit abortions, which ones are "bad" and which ones aren't?  The truth is the pro-abortion "choice" crowd supports allowing abortions for any reason at all up to and including the day of delivery.  That's a fact.

Now I know there are a lot of people who think certain individuals shouldn't be allowed to "breed."  That's fine if that's your viewpoint.  Just be honest about it.
