Where are they now?

Kenneth Connolly, a 1980's Republican operative, became Executive Director of the New Jersey Republican State Committee after managing Ralph Salerno's unsuccessful bid to oust then-Senate President Carmen Orechio in 1983.  An protege of Andrew Consovoy, who was a top aide to Governor Thomas Kean, Connolly managed James Courter's 1989 gubernatorial campaign.  He later went to work for the state Parole Board, where Consovoy was a Commissioner before a scandal forced his own resignation.

McGreeey in Santa Fe

Former Governor James E. McGreevey, in New Mexico to attend a Human Rights Alliance fundraiser, said that it is "too early in the process" to discuss his endorsement of a 2008 presidential candidate, but praised Governor Bill Richardson as a "progressive voice," according to an Associated Press interview.   

The news here is that McGreevey, who said last September in interviews about his book that he would no longer participate in partisan politics, has not closed the door to becoming involved the the '08 campaign.

Governor Meyner withheld support from John Kennedy in 1960 in order to cast the decisive vote at the Los Angeles Convention. When they called the roll call, Robert Kennedy told him that his brother did not need him.
