GOVERNOR SIGNS EXECUTIVE ORDER establishing the New Jersey Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission 

TRENTON – Governor Jon S. Corzine today signed an Executive Order that establishes the New Jersey Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission.

GOVERNOR CORZINE CALLS FOR PROPERTY TAX RELIEF FOR SENIORS 70,000 additional senior homeowners will be eligible for program EDISON–Asserting that the State must do everything possible to provide relief to struggling New Jerseyans, Governor Jon S. Corzine today advocated the expansion of the Senior Freeze program, noting new changes will provide an additional 70,000 seniors with a property tax reimbursement averaging $1,000.

GOVERNOR CORZINE PROPOSES BUDGET RELIEF FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENTSOutlines plan to keep cities and counties going while keeping property taxes in check ATLANTIC CITY – Recognizing that local governments are suffering a substantial financial burden as a result of the current economic recession, Governor Jon S. Corzine today announced a plan to help ease their near-term budget crunch – and keep property taxes in check – by allowing counties and municipalities to temporarily defer 50 percent of next April’s payment into the employee pension system.

GOVERNOR CORZINE ANNOUNCES NEW LEADER FOR DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTIONTRENTON - Governor Jon S. Corzine today announced the appointment of experienced  environmental-protection professional Mark Mauriello to head the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, effective immediately. Mauriello succeeds Commissioner Lisa P. Jackson, who was named as chief of staff for Governor Corzine in October.

GOVERNOR ANNOUNCES FORT MONMOUTH GRANT EXTENSION Trenton- Governor Jon S. Corzine today announced the U.S. Department of Labor has approved an extension to the National Emergency Grant (NEG) previously awarded to the State of New Jersey. The grant provides funding for training and the continued services of up to 1,100 Fort Monmouth employees through June 30, 2010.

NEW BRUNSWICK - Governor Jon S. Corzine today announced an $88 million increase in state and federal funding that will be aimed at helping struggling New Jerseyans keep their homes heated this winter.
