It's Finally Official: The Camden County Democrat Machine is Taking Over the Burlington County Organization

(MOUNT HOLLY, NJ) - Richard Perr is the handpicked successor to Chairman Gary Karr. This is a blatant attempt by the power brokers from Camden County to wheel their influence in the Burlington County Democrat Organization. Mr. Perr has many ties and has never denied his connection to the Democrat power brokers in Camden County.

Perr's initial foray into Burlington County was as the founder and self-proclaimed president of the bogus Burlington County Taxpayers' Association. To this day he will still insist that the BCTA is bipartisan or nonpartisan. But not even the media, which initially bought into his highly-partisan attacks, are fooled anymore. To this day, the "membership" of the BCTA remains a mystery.

“It is now obvious that what the Burlington County Republicans have been saying all along is true, Richard Perr has been a Democrat operative. The Burlington County Taxpayers’ Association was nothing more than a front to promote constantly failing Democrat policies, said Republican Chairman Mike Warner.

Warner continued to say, “Mr. Perr doesn’t care one bit about Burlington County taxpayers, all he cares about is bringing the Camden Democrat agenda of higher taxes and overdevelopment to Burlington County. Loyal rank and file Democrats have good reason to be concerned about what Perr's Camden County philosophy will bring in the way of higher taxes especially as it relates to their local municipal races.

Mr. Perr’s attacks on Burlington County Republicans are all the evidence needed to prove his organization exists exclusively on paper and is nothing more than a front. The record of service compiled by the Burlington County Freeholders and the Republican officeholders in the county is an outstanding one- fiscal responsibility, low taxes, open space preservation, and the best possible return to the taxpayer for the tax dollar.

Perr to be next Burlco Democratic Chairman

The race to succeed Gary Karr as Burlington County Democratic Chairman is a done deal: the new Chairman will be Richard Perr, a 37-year-old attorney and Rutgers Law Professor who worked for then-U.S. Senator Albert Gore. Perr has close ties to South Jersey Democratic fundraisers and impressed party insiders with his work as head of the Burlington County Taxpayers Association. Perr has locked up the key endorsements and will not likely face a challenge. Democratic operatives believe Burlington County is potentially competitive, despite a solid record of victories for Republicans at the county level for nearly twenty years. Party registration in Burlington County is the closest in the state, with 51,012 Democrats and 50,581 Republicans, and Democratic statewide candidates have won Burlington in 2001, 2002, and 2005. Still, the Burlington County Republican machine is perhaps the strongest GOP operation in the state and they typicall win countywide campaigns by wide margins.
