There are reports from Mercer County that Richard McClellan will step down as the Democratic County Chairman. One possible replacement, reportedly at the suggestion of County Executive Brian Hughes, is attorney Paul Anzano. This has long been a rumor in Mercer County. Rich McClelland has been regularly criticized by Republicans for using his Hamilton Twp position to help promote the Democratic Party, a charge often leveled against people with a patronage and a party job. What also may be at work here is Mayor Gilmore's concern that McClelland's dual positions will become an issue in what is shaping up to be a tough reelection bid for him in 2007.

Mercer County has to have the most pathetic politicians anywhere, with the exception of Mr. Baroni of course. I mean you have Bonnie "Reparations for Everyone" Coleman, Tweedy Reed Gusciora, Al "Snorty" Bridges, Rich "Double-Dipper" McClellan, and a city that still thinks Doug Palmer is a decent mayor.
