GOP continue to make case for Palin but Dems say she's no Jersey girl

Governor Sarah Palin's selection by John McCain further proves his commitment to the far right-wing policies of the Bush-Cheney administration.

Instead of boosting his maverick credentials, it tells the world that if you thought the Bush-Cheney gang were conservative ideologues, you 'aint seen nothing yet!

Palin is no Jersey girl, that's for sure. She's a James Dobson girl. Dobson's arch conservative Focus on the Family group may be elated by Governor Palin's nomination, but she won't do much to attract the votes of the pragmatically progressive electorate in this state.

All this just in 72hrs of being the VP candidate. Its time Republicans understand that Palin is blowing up on McCain like a Vietcong boobytrap and taking anyone who supports her candidacy along with him.

According to the report, "the team assigned to vet Ms. Palin in Alaska had not arrived there until Thursday, a day before Mr. McCain stunned the political world with his vice-presidential choice."

"[McCain] had his first face-to-face interview with her on Thursday and offered her the job moments later." The same day the vetting team was landing in Alaska? Has he lost his marbles?

They immediately deflect attention to Obama and focus on Obama. Period. But that tactic will help Obama win the election. "Take a good look at Barack Obama! Sarah Palin has more experience and knowledge and is infinitely more effective than Obama is or will ever be! Na Na Na Na Na! Sarah Palin has more experience than Joe Biden and Barack Obama put together. She is both a public and a private creationist and Obama is not a creationist."

NJ girl says, "Yeah right! I heard all about the new bridge that McCain and Palin are effectively selling to their base but not the entire country! Much less New Jersey. I'm not buying, "The Bridge to No Where in Alaska: 2" Because the "prequel to the sequel" was a colossal disaster in Alaska!

If Palin is "our guy" I'M heading straight into the Pine Barrens and I'm NEVER coming back out! For the first time in my life I feel sorry for the Republicans for being saddled with this one. What could McCain be thinking? Three lead articles about Palin in today's Wall Street Journal show that even they're plenty shocked by and worried over Palin's record and political philosophy.

According to the Associated Press and Newsweek Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin attended Five colleges in Six years before graduating from the University of Idaho in 1987. Five college spokespersons told reporters,

"The McCain campaign never contacted us about Sarah Palin's record or requested a background check." On Friday, the McCain campaign did not have an immediate comment on Palin's higher education record. But Cindy McCain volunteered, on another topic, "Sarah Palin has foreign policy experience. Alaska is the closest state to Russia!"

Sarah Palin began college at Hawaii Pacific University, a private school in Honolulu. Then she was known as Sarah Louise Heath and she attended only as a freshman during the fall of 1982.  School spokeswoman Crystale Lopez said, "She was in the business program and we're trying to track down someone who knew her."

From Hawaii Pacific, Sarah Palin transferred to North Idaho College, a two-year community college in Coeur d'Alene, and sixty miles south of Spokane. She attended the college as a general studies major for two semesters, in the spring and fall of 1983.  School spokeswoman Stacy Hudson said in essence, "We were not able to track down club affiliations or anything significant about Sarah Palin. We located one of her professors but he did not remember her."

Prior to her selection by John McCain, the North Idaho College Alumni Association notified Sarah Palin that she would be the recipient of its 2009 Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award.

From North Idaho College, Palin transferred 70 miles south to the University of Idaho, and she majored in journalism with an emphasis in broadcast news. She attended Idaho, from fall 1984 to spring 1985. University of Idaho in Moscow, Spokeswoman Tania Thompson said in so many words, "Our office was not contacted by anyone from the McCain campaign about, Sarah Palin's VP candidacy!"  

In the fall of 1985, Sarah Palin returned to Alaska to attend Matanuska-Susitna College in Palmer. Then she returned to University of Idaho, for spring and fall of 1986 and in the spring of 1987 she graduated with a journalism degree. But she does not appear to have worked for the college newspaper or campus television station. After college, she worked briefly as a sportscaster for KTUU TV in Anchorage.

In a June 2008 interview with the University of Idaho alumni magazine, she explained that her curiosity and love of writing made journalism a natural choice.

"I was always asking everyone the questions, and I still am today!" Sarah Palin told the magazine.
