In a tale of two mid-summer campaigns that are up and apparently
State Sen. John Adler (D-Camden) operational 24/7 in the 3rd Congressional District, state Sen. John Adler (D-Camden) continues to make Medford Mayor Chris Myers answer for what Adler sees as the blunders of a bad president.
Today it was Bush’s decision to veto the Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 that Adler derided - and Myers also said he opposed.
Making a statement while simultaneously keeping his cash-strapped opponent busy with policy, Adler issued a press release, calling Bush’s veto proof that the Republican president is
Medford Mayor Chris Myersout of touch with middle class Americans and seniors who depend on Medicare for health care coverage.
"Republicans in Washington have demonstrated time and again that they don't understand the squeeze that families are feeling due to skyrocketing gas, food, and health care costs," Adler said.
"First Republicans in Congress denied children health care coverage by vetoing SCHIP and then they stood with big oil over the interests of our middle class," added the Democrat. "And now President Bush has the audacity to veto a bill that will encourage more doctors to participate in Medicare and preserve choices for millions of seniors and disabled Americans."
Responding to the press release issued by Adler, Myers campaign manager Chris Russell said the Republican mayor likewise supports a bipartisan override of Bush’s veto of the Medicare improvement act.
Rather than wallow in Bush blame, Russell tried to argue for his candidate’s independence, and willingness to buck the president and other party leadership.
"Just like he did on offshore oil drilling and the new GI Bill, Chris Myers has demonstrated that he is not afraid to stand up to his own party's leaders when they are wrong on the issues affecting his district," said Russell.
"Career politician John Adler, on the other hand, has been nothing more than a rubber stamp for billions in tax and spending increases heaped upon New Jersey property taxpayers by his corrupt Trenton and Camden political bosses," Russell added.

Let him deny it...
Chris Myers might oppose one or two measures of the Bush administration, but the bottom line is he stood with Dick Cheney in 2004 in New Jersey and promised to support the President. He even donated $2,000 to the re-elect. Just weeks ago Myers should with John McCain, who is running for George Bush's third term in office. A vote for Chris Myers is a vote for a Bush third term.
And Myers himself hasn't even denied anything...
...it's all coming out of his mouthpiece. Who ever heard of an open-seat candidate in a competitive race who can't even stand on his own two feet?
Oh please...
Would someone tell CitizenSJ how well the Dennison campaign did shouting BUSH all the time.
And would someone tell commonsensenj that unless Adler fires HIS spokesperson and starts talking to the media himself every now and again, that whole statement is ridiculous and hypocritical.
Bottom-line is that this race will come down to personal character, position on issues, organizational support and demographics. Myers wins those categories hands down.
While the Adler camp will try and draw a ridiculous line to the bridge commission (as if a councilman/mayor of a town not associated with the bridge would know the day-to-day operations of a commission no where near his jurisdiction and things that may or may not have happened 5 years ago is a credible storyline – Just ask Senator Bodine how that strategy worked). The fact of the matter is Adler will have to stand up and state why he did nothing while HIS dear friend and colleague Wayne Bryant ripped off the taxpayers of NJ by the millions.
Why HE voted to give Lawnside an extra $1,000,000 two years ago on a Bryant amendment without any documentation.
Fact is, Bryant will be front page news in September-election and Adler will have to answer for his silence on something that WAS actually under his jurisdiction.
Myers wins while Adler will have to see if he should even run for State Senate again after all the dirt comes out.
Not sure the name Adler will even help the councilwoman anymore.
Please, please, please
Do not ever compare this race to Rich Dennison and his joke of a campaign last year. This is in one way shape or form that race. He was dumb to compare Diane Allen to George Bush. Chris Myers on the other has stood with George Bush on his feelings that "the economy is basically strong." (Check out frontpage of BlueJersey today). Myers has stood with Dick Cheney, donated to the Bush-Cheney reelect, and has stood and supported John McSame just weeks ago, who is running for George Bush's third term.
What ridiculous line to the bridge commission? Members of the bridge commission, corrupt members of the bridge commission, have donated to the Chris Myers campaign!
Oh please...
Like I said - doing the Bush/Myers comparison is a strategy you guys can utilize if you want - it simply won't work in my opinion. But hey, when you have nothing else on a decorated combat vet and successful businessman, then what the heck – not my money.
As for corrupt members of the bridge commission, again I say - have at it. That line has been used over and over and over and over and....and well Senator Bodine and Assemblymembers Whatstheirnames strongly suggest you continue to push that proven and successful strategy.
I am just looking forward to the headlines in the fall when unindicted co-conspirator John Adler has to defend his votes that supported the corruption perpetrated Wayne Bryant.
Poor Citizen
when all else fails, throw bush into the mix!
Of course citizen and others are terrified about the prospect of Adler having to actually campaign against a good man like Myers. There is so much garbage on Adler because of his being a career pol "in bed" with the likes of Byrant, Corzine etc.
Also, for all the naysayers, Saxton has already been touting Myers around and regardless about what you may think or say, Saxton's word against Adler's is something you cannot hold a candle to.

When all else fails??? Everything already has failed, thanks to Bush and his corrupt and idiotic policies. Do we really want a Congressman who will reflect the last 8 years of blunder, international shame and economic despair? You cannot dispute the fact that Myers has a connection with the Administration, considering he contributed to the campaign keep the Bush administration in the White House.
And I am really confused why supporters of Adler would be “terrified” about campaigning against Myers. Clearly, the contributions to Adler’s campaign would suggest that…oh wait, never mind, Adler has over a $1.5 million advantage. I suppose all those donors were willing to throw their money away to a campaign they feel will fail. RIGHTTT!
And one last thing. Saxton is obviously going to endorse and support a Republican candidate to succeed him. Unfortunately for him, he had a slim choice of viable candidates to replace him, so he had to settle for what he thought might be best. Saxton can “tout Myers around” for as long as he wants, but do residents of NJ-3 really want a Saxton puppet to be their next Congressman??
A nickel and a good man...
...will buy you a cup of coffee.
Which the Myers campaign probably cannot afford at this late point in the cycle.
What say we take up a collection for pab and better?
Did Mayor Myers ask you to forego your paychecks this week yet?

So What if Myers is in contact with people in the Bush Admin? Are you that ignorant of the fact that this man has worked to help develope defense systems for this country?
Face it, Adler would have loved to have Jack Kelly run against him instead of Myers, but the fact is Myers has a better than average shot of beating Adler.
It is less than four months before the election and Myers has yet to come out swinging about the Trenton insider/career politician that now wants to represent the Third Congressional District.
Oh, and the linking Bush to Myers wont work. Ask Rich Dennison
