MOUNTAINSIDE - In his first major debate appearance, Darren Young says the federal government should not increase the age for Social Security elligibility, but insists that the system needs an overhaul starting at the front-end.
"We need to gradually move away from Social Security," says Young, who explains that young people should have the opportunity to opt out of the system.
"There's plenty of money that can be cut in other places," he says, "but we cannot keep it as it is," says the Murray Sarbin-aligned candidate.
Young, a software developer from Summit, is running on a ticket with U.S. Senate candidate Murray Sabrin.
