Republican Senate candidates Joe Pennacchio and Murray Sabrin have raised roughly equal amounts of money, but Pennacchio has a much larger cash reserve.
Pennacchio has raised $361,710 for his U.S. Senate candidacy so far -- including the two weeks that have passed since the Federal Election Commission's March 31st cut off date. At least some of that money was put in by Pennacchio, who said he didn’t know off the top of his head how much he’s donated to his own campaign. He currently has 279,081 cash-on-hand.
“The only thing I can tell you is this: compared to some of the other self-funding candidates, the money I’ve put in to date is not that significant,” said Pennacchio.
Rival candidate Murray Sabrin has raised a roughly equal amount to Pennacchio, but has spent much more.
Last quarter, Sabrin raised approximately $350,000, according to his spokesman George Ajjan. $200,000 of that has come from donations averaging just under $150, from donors in 19 New Jersey counties and 48 states. $150,000 of the total came from Sabrin’s own pocket.
But Sabrin has spent $284,000, leaving him with about $66,000 cash-on-hand.
The other Senate candidate, Dick Zimmer, entered the race after the FEC’s cut off date and will not have to file until next quarter.

Those numbers are pathetic
Those numbers are trully pathetic.
Doesn't Anne Estabrook and Andy Unanue have to file too?
How come you aren't posting their campaign filings? How much did their campaigns raise?
wow....that's awful
Considering Pennacchio was (at one time) the co-presumptive front-runner, and that he's a sitting State Senator....that total is an absolute joke.
$361k doesn't even get you to first base in a competitive legislative district race....
I'm also a little surprised that Murray Sabrin put in $150k of his own money. Didn't think Ramapo College profs earned that much.
Pointless article. The
Pointless article.
The reason for raising money is to spend it, get your message out and get votes.
Sounds like that's what Sabrin is doing.
Good luck to him, New Jersey needs a strong fiscal conservative.
Sad... Truly sad....
NJ's 7th and 3rd District races (Primary and General) will raise and cost more money than Jersey Joe and Murray Sabrin could ever dream of... (Kate Whitman out raised both of you) What is Sabrin spending his money on?? Ron Paul appearances?
Jersey Joe you're running for US Senate NOT State Senate...
WE WANT BLOOD
Come on stop prancing around, lets throw some names out there....top donors, top endorsers. Let's get people in trouble. BTW Ramapo professor's make a pretty decent living. For a frontrunner candidate, $360,000 will get you 13 local television ads and 1 unsuccessful campaign. Keep up the good work guys....
May be Murray practices
what he teaches - Finance. With a good salary and some shrewd investments, not much of stretch.
Or
Murray has spent all his money already, and has nothing to show for it.
Dick and Christie--Perfect together
Hey, Zimmer and Whitman were tight in the 90's. He was her campaign chair. Now he ought to bring her back. Just think, she did such a great job for the R's in NJ in the 90's and is so loved with her legacy, I'm sure she will be a big ASS-et if she gets behind Zimmer.
Oops, that's right, her daugher is running for Congress. Gosh, isn't recycling wonderful? Nothing more then a bunch of RINO's.
Previous writer had it right. Loser, loser and loser. If this is the best the R's have to offer, why wast the money or effort?
