LONEGAN CALLS ON ANTI-TOLL HIKE LEGISLATORS TO BOYCOTT CHAMBER TRIP

BOGOTA -- Americans for Prosperity New Jersey director Steve Lonegan today called on anti-toll hike legislators to boycott the annual Chamber of Commerce train trip taking place this weekend in light of the Chamber’s endorsement of Governor Corzine’s $38 Billion Borrowing and Toll Hike Scheme.

“Legislators and individuals who oppose the Governor’s reckless Enron-style rip-off should back up their views by boycotting the so-called ‘walk to Washington’,” Lonegan added. “This plan is another nail in New Jersey’s coffin and the State Chamber of Commerce is holding the nails for the Governor.”

“The Chamber has gone from the guardian of small business to the enabler of big government and high taxes,” Lonegan said. “They no longer speak for Main Street and have become nothing more than a shill for State Street,” he added. “It’s time for businesses across New Jersey and in other states as well to reexamine their relationship with this group that has become a cheerleader for higher taxes and more liberal big government programs.”
