U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg, preparing to seek re-election to a fifth term next year, has a 47%-29% approval rating – up from the 40%-32% in a February 2007 Quinnipiac University poll. The state’s junior Senator, Robert Menendez, is upside down – 34%-36%; he was at 34%-35% in February.

Menendez Popularity
You can take the man out of Hudson but you can't take the Hudson out of the man. While disavowing any relation to the County that made him what he was, the public sees that he is still involved and a product of his environment. Like Michael Corleone, when he tried to get out, they just pull him back in. Clock is ticking.
Senator Dementia - approvals up seven points
It begs the question from a movie of the recent past -
"Should We or Should-We-Not Follow the Advice of the Galacticly Stupid"
or is this poll a true indication of the Democrat base in New Jersey?
Menendez is a 1-termer
These ratings are beyond awful. If the GOP nominates even a lower first-tier candidate he is done. We need the time to organize and stop him.
No R in sight
The problem is not the caliber of the current crop of Senators. The problem is as usual that the R bench is lightweight. Prediction: Lautenberg by 10 points!
NO LIGHTWEIGHT HERE
If Mike Doherty does decide to run for Senate (let's hope he does) he could certainly have a shot. Not only is he a conservative who can articulate his positions well (who will rile the base and stand strong on issues he cares about) but as a West Point graduate he will offer such a contrasting image to Lautenberg or Menendez. He is definitely a Reagan conservative who would be able to appeal to the "Reagan Democrats" who helped the Gipper win NJ twice. You tell me that this is the resume of a lightweight... EDUCATION: B.S. United States Military Academy at West Point; J.D. Seton Hall University School of Law OCCUPATION: Patent Attorney, Lerner, David, Littenberg, Krumholz & Mentlik PUBLIC/PARTY SERVICE: Warren County Board of Freeholders, Director 2002-03, Deputy Director 2001-02 MILITARY SERVICE: U.S. Army 1985-89, Reserve 1989-93, Captain LEGISLATIVE SERVICE: General Assembly 2002-present
I hope he does articulate his positions well if he runs...
Because he is so far right that if he gets past the Republican Primary he will have a snowball's chance of winning the general once NJ actually gets to know what he is about. He is well known as one of the most right wing members of the Legislature and has the voting history and bill introductions to back it up.
Here is the number 1 issue!
I want someone in the Senate who is going to get New Jersey better than the last place ranking we have had for years. Number 50 of 50 states is terrible for the return of federal tax dollars. Why are our Senators so inept?
