Adler Raised Taxes 43 Times Since 2002,
While Increasing State Spending by $11 Billion
Myers says Adler's Trenton resume' indicative of how he'll vote in Congress
Mount Holly, September 2, 2008-John Adler's 16-year career as a Trenton politician, and his votes to raise taxes 43 times since 2002, while increasing state spending by $11 billion-a 50% increase in just six years-has made New Jersey unaffordable for working families and seniors on a fixed income, forced residents and businesses to flee the state, and is an accurate predictor of how Adler will vote against the interests of taxpayers in Congress, charged job-creating businessman and decorated combat veteran Chris Myers (NJ-3) today.
"John Adler has a long, troubling history of voting for higher taxes, and under the Adler-Corzine-McGreevey regime New Jersey was recently rated as the most taxed state in the nation," declared Myers, citing a report by the non-partisan Tax Foundation. "John Adler voted to increase the state sales tax; and created or increased taxes on gym and YMCA memberships, dry cleaning, carpet installations, landscaping, magazines, senior citizen pensions, cell phones and land lines, car tires, electric bills, petroleum products, and health care, just to name a few. He even created an estate tax that makes New Jersey the third most expensive state to die in. This state is unaffordable, and it's because of Trenton politicians like John Adler, Jon Corzine and Jim McGreevey."
Myers touted his ability to cut local purpose property taxes as Medford Mayor this year and his record of holding the growth in Medford's local purpose property tax levy to less than the rate of inflation since 2004, favorably comparing the average 2.25% annual property tax growth in Medford to the 7% average statewide since 2004. Compared to the other 47 municipalities in the 3rd Congressional District that have a local purpose tax, Medford has had the third lowest rate of growth since 2004.
"Republicans, Democrats and Independents in suburban towns throughout New Jersey know where the true blame for our State's property tax problems lies-and that's with failed Governor's like Jim McGreevey and Jon Corzine, the tax and spend politicians in the legislature like John Adler, and the activist judges who've sat on the State Supreme Court," said Myers, who explained that the single largest growth in Medford's property tax levy during his tenure, between 2003 and 2004, was due in large part to circumstances beyond control of the Township Council, such as continual unfunded mandates being handed down from Trenton politicians and unexpected costs associated with the historic 2004 flood.
"Compared to the other 47 towns in the 3rd Congressional District that collect a local purpose property tax, Medford has the third lowest rate of growth since 2004. I'll put that record up against John Adler's 43 tax hikes and $11 billion spending increase any day of the week. He's been nothing more than a big-taxing, big-spending rubber stamp for Jim McGreevey and Jon Corzine in Trenton, and he'll be the same for Nancy Pelosi in Washington."

Maybe that explains his low polls
The DCCC conducted a poll a few weeks ago showing Adler down in the polls after spending more than $500K. Adler fires his campaign manager and re-structures his staff. Seems like a smart thing to do considering his anti-suburban policies. There are only 2 months left in the campaign, wonder how he will spend his money before losing the election? Hard to transform a Cherry Hill liberal lawyer/Trenton Politician into a "regular" guy that understands veterans issues, the concerns of rural towns, the struggles of middle income taxpayers in suburban towns - you know, the 3rd Dist.
Show me
Do you have one shred of evidence that you didn't make up that poll you just "cited"?
While I have not seen it
While I have not seen it (the poll), I find it hard to believe that his campaign has not conducted one. If he has conducted a poll, I find it harder to believe that he would not release it if he were leading Chris Myers to end any hope he thought Myers may have to win. But again, I have not seen it. Having worked on campaigns in the past around the country, one of the first things you do is hire a pollster and conduct a poll. If you are leading, you release it in hopes of burying your opponent. So there may be something to what abetternjnow is saying.
I'll believe it when I'm given reason to...
If the polls showed Myers winning as abetternjnow claims why wouldn't he release it. So it goes both ways. I'm not interested in the argument of he or she hasn't released a poll so he must be losing.
I believe polling has been done. I want a single legitimate reason that can be verified outside of the words you write to give credence to what you say about the existence of this poll.
From my perspective, a random internet poster who frequently posts on Myers related articles and is a staunch Myers supporter claims he has seen the results of a DCCC poll showing Myers is down in the polls. This is contrary to the large support Adler has accumulated through his fundraising compared to Myers and the large number of endorsements. This also runs contrary to the national public sentiment leaning Democrat, in a race with two non-incumbents one of whom is largely unheard of outside of Lockheed Martin and Medford. It runs contrary to the large financial support from the DCCC to Adler and the lack of financial support (so far) for Myers.
The most logical conclusion from this is I'm left with is that this Myers supporter has either
A. not seen the poll and made up the results
B. seen the polls, but since national support has not been there so far for Myers wants to present a false image of sucess
Now as for the reasons I lied out earlier that is what I'm left to believe is probably going on?
Other than the idea that Corzine and Codey aren't popular do you have any reason to persuade me that I should believe when you speak of poll results?
You really haven't given myself or anyone else a reason to think what you said about the polls isn't fictious, but do you have a reason?
Because
The reason Myers has not released the poll is because Chris Myers is not in possession of it. Technically, he cannot as it is or would be property of the Adler campaign. Can it get leaked? Sure. But if it is leaked and the Myers campaign is found out to have been the source, then they can be legally in trouble. And financial support does not equate to polling prowess. Ask Susan Bass Levin who outraised Saxton how well she did in the polls. The answer - not well. And yes equating Levin to Adler in this case is warranted.
Never said I saw the poll
Read my earlier posts - stated that a former Adler campaign staffer moaned about being booted following a dismal DCCC poll that showed Adler down (I think 9 points but could have been 11).
Why I believe this to be true is based on the fact that Adler abruptly restructured his campaign leadership a month ago.
You can't blame a guy for getting rid of top staff after spending $500K and being 9-11 points down in the polls.
However, I continue to wait for someone to tell how a Cherry Hill liberal lawyer/Trenton politician can win in the 3rd.
Look at the legislative makeup of the district - 10 out of 12 are R's. And if you factor out Pennsauken in LD-7 it would be 12 for 12. Oh, and by the way - now is NOT the time to be running on one's Trenton track record.
Adler can't win - regardless if you believe the poll or not.
Ain't gonna happen.
Sorry
Sorry, but you claimed the DCCC poll was conducted a few weeks ago. Your reason for why we should believe it to be true is that Adler made "abrupt leadership changes". I noticed the spokesman for Adler for Congress changed in the middle of July, but you claim the leadership changes show existence of a poll conducted a few weeks ago. Therefore one could not have caused the other. So once again, you're insane and there is no reason to believe the poll exists.
There are more registered Dems than Republicans in the 3rd Congressional District in New Jersey.
So I looked at the legislative makeup of the district and it revealed you to be a moron.
Funny...
I heard Bush disapproval in this district is around 68%. That bodes well for Chris "Walks with Bush" Myers.
Just ask Tom Wilson who's going to win this election. He'd try to respond, but he'd be too sick.
And betternjnow...
Come on. Was it an Adler poll or a DCCC poll? Keep flip-flopping like John Kerry on this one.
Hey the oh!-c, this would be an appropriate time to call someone out on a lie. That is, if you're not partisan.
If I see a liar
If I see a liar I will let you know. Oh look I see one - Independent excuse me - liberalleftwinged fake oc. Thanks for pointing out you are here. I don't know if abetternjnow is lying because I have not seen the poll. However, your comments have been lies based on the facts at hand. Which kindergarten comeback are you going to hit me with next? I am rubber and you are clue??
sorry
sorry meant to say glue - but could also have meant clueless...take your pick.
Why so angry?
I am glad you have a list of registered voters. If you say there are more D's then R's - I'll take your word for it.
However, moron, look at who these people elect to represent them - 10 out of 12 LEGISLATORS in the 3rd are Reps.
Regardless, you seem very angry. Truth starting to wear you down?
Sorry if I said a "few weeks" or a "month" with regard to the timing of the poll. Sort of irrelevant.
Don't believe me, or if you are aware of the poll, continue to deny. Either way - facts are the facts. The 3rd is already represented heavily by Republican LEGISLATORS both in Trenton and DC.
They will not elected a liberal weeny whose focus has been on social redistribution of people and wealth. The folks of the 3rd really want gov't to leave them alone - not force COAH mandates and 1,000 other regulations and taxes that is the Adler legacy.
Oh, and before I forget - Adler is down in the DCCC poll because he is a Cherry Hill liberal lawyer/Trenton politician.
Have a nice day.
Oh yes they will
The 3rd district will elect John Adler. If you don't believe me call the NRCC but I'm not sure if they're taking calls from NJ after Tom Wilson's temper tantrum.
If John Adler is a liberal weeny at least he's been against the Iraq War from the start, but it's a good thing Myers has the judgement to know we need to stay in Iraq until it looks like we've won.
The thing about D's and R's...
This election cycle is the first time that registered Democrats outnumber registered Republicans in the Third District. Which tells you that the Third District is unhappy with the Republicans currently representing them. And this district voted for that liberal weeny Gore in 2000, voted 48% for that liberal weeny Kerry in 2004, and are looking to vote strongly for that liberal weeny Obama in 2008.
Let's see what happens when Chris "I Don't have Jim Saxton's Name Recognition" Myers runs in the Third District.
Again, just ask Tom Wilson what he thinks about this election. You really should ask someone other than Chris Myers what is going on with this election. Hey, but I guess you have to stay loyal to the man signing your paychecks.
Please give my
regards to Presidents Gore and Kerry.
Any who...
Would someone please tell me how the Adler camp will defend his casting the deciding vote on COAH to residents of suburban and rural 3rd District?
Did he think massive development and skyrocketing property taxes that will be the result of this unfunded mandate would be embraced by Moorestown, Shamong, Toms River, Ocean?
But hey, I am certain that the good folks of the 3rd can't wait for a Cherry Hill liberal lawyer/Trenton politician to tell them that their home rule is wrong and that forced migration from the cities into their neighborhoods was the right thing to do.
And I am sure that they are all very excited to have similar policies slammed down their throat from DC too.
Good luck with all that.
Smiles
Whoa...
Don't smile at me, smile at Chris Myers as you read him the latest round of NRCC media buys. Smile so that he doesn't feel so badly he's not getting any money because you're there with him.
According to the number of registered Democrats, the campaign contributions, and the endorsements, the good folks of New Jersey's Third District can't wait to get Adler into Washington.
Some insight into your average voters' minds: they don't know about COAH, they don't care about COAH, they're not voting based on COAH.
They're sick of George Bush, the war in Iraq, and foreign oil dependence. Guess which candidate offers them a new direction.
Give up? It's John Adler.
Smile. It's about the only thing Myers can do at this point with his war chest.
From what I've seen
You've outted yourself as a Myers campaign insider. The only time I've seen public outcry about COAH was Myers little stunt across the street from the Corzine signing. There's nothing wrong with working for Myers (assuming off course his checks clear), it's just interesting that's all.
Well Said
Haha Andy Grey. Well said. Assuming his checks clear. Keep in mind, those checks are coming from a personal loan.
This might interest you Andy Grey. It occurred to me recently that without Myers's $50,000 personal loan, Adler's cash-on-hand advantage would be 14-1, as in $1.4 million to $105,000.
