Juan Melli
How does a Blue Jersey wanker like Juan Melli get into a Congressional poll like this and Al Leiter doesn't get into a US Senate poll?
Juan Melli? Seriously, are you kidding me???
Judging by the early results, I can see that a large amount of his fellow wankers have been voting in this poll as well.
Why don't we add Ronald McDonald to the list while we're at it!?
"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."- Winston Churchill
Crappy choices
Slime pickings from a district that yields good political leaders....
Leiter
When Leiter said "No way" you really considered that a 'maybe'? I mean, even people like Clark and Newt leave the door more open than that when people ask them if they're running.
Why would Leiter run?
I know Al and could never see him running...just because he should his face at a few GOP fundraisers doesn't mean he wants to run...
Melli
With all due respect to our blue jersey colleagues, I believe that anyone with half a brain can start a blog and make it into a community. Yes, I am taking a shot at the site and founders/writers of redjersey as well, including myself, because I don't believe that is a very hard thing to do. Especially when your the majority in the state, it really can't be too hard.
At least we have the uphill battle of being the minority and not having advertisers or free promotional coverage thanks to politicsnj.
I have a friend who ran for board of education last year during his senior year of college while trying to do two seminar papers and Model UN. Unfortunately, he lost. In my view he's done way more then Juan Melli has. The same goes for him doing more then people like me as well.
The fact that Juan Melli is on this list is a slap in the face to this state; that someone who decided to start a liberal blog community in a blue state has the credentials to run for United States Congress.
Go run for town positions or county positions, then come back and say you have real experience.
Blue-NJ
"When Leiter said "No way" you really considered that a 'maybe'?"
When Hillary Clinton said she wouldn't run for President, did you consider that a maybe???
Nice job, Eric. You hit the nail on the head.
I would equate Juan Melli being on this list to somebody being hired to work as a gourmet chef because he knows how to boil water to cook hot dogs.

I voted for Juan..
..simply because he pisses off the conservatives so much. I just imagine Dino Crocetti reading this poll and getting SO ANGRY, and it makes me happy. Good job, Juan, and keep it up - you're doing the Lord's work!
Esedler
it's also pretty easy doing talk radio huh, kid? http://www.blogtalkradio.com/hostpage.aspx?show_id=22779
Response
Well unfortunately I wasn't part of that adventure. But I would assume since they never tried it again and by the audio quality that it's a little bit harder since we don't have the proper and functional equipment. If you'd like to hear my voice I am one of a few guests who usually appear on a weekly political talk show at my college. It's much easier to do a show with that kind of equipment.
As far as Al Leiter is concerned, that's Dino's thing.
Roscoe
Contrary to what you're conjuring up in your head that's giving you a wet dream, I'm far from angry.
I'm actually completely baffled and actually laughing very hard at this.
Whoever came up with this idea either works for both Blue Jersey and Politics NJ or was putting this list together at two in the morning and ran out of names. Pretty funny.

This is hilarious
I don't know what is funnier - Eric trying to redirect the feeling of self-loathing he has towards Juan or Dino admitting that he fantasizes about Roscoe's wet dreams.
Pocket Aces
And yet, none of it is half as funny as "Juan Melli for Congress".
Isn't that hysterical!?

Actually
I have nothing but respect for Juan Melli and the organization he has created with Blue Jersey.
I just don't think that qualifies him to be a congressional candidate. Apparently you missed the part where I took the same stance on someone like myself or the founders of Red Jersey.
I don't think they or I am qualified to be a congressional candidate as well.
That doesn't mean Juan or I can't run, this is a Democracy after all, but I think it'd be a joke if they got the nomination for that high of an office while everyone else on that list (outside of David DelVecchio, whom I don't believe has held an elected office) is more then qualified to be a congressional candidate and has experience in serving the public in this state.
would nominate
For starters....let's all re-read the poll question. Its not who SHOULD be nominated...its who WOULD be nominated.
I'm a D who NEVER reads BlueJersey, and I strongly disagreed when Wally made Melli politician of the year a few years back. There's no way Melli would win a primary against anyone halfway formidable.
Delvecchio has run before, and I'd give him the inside track. Its a weird district, but I can't see the nominee coming from Monmouth (Karcher/Panter) or Somerset (Chivukula, I think). I'm not sure Turner or Palmer could carry anything outside of Mercer. Greenstein from Middlesex, but representing most of Mercer seems to have the largest natural base...but she's not known for taking chances.
Not familiar..
I have to admit I'm not too familiar with Delvecchio, but I am reading up on him now.
As far as who would be nominated, I think Reed Gusciora has considerable name recognition, even if he comes from the Mercer part of the district.
I also agree with you that Greenstein is content where she is in the Assembly.
Taking chances
Greenstein took a huge chance when she first challenged Kramer and Wright back in 1999. If Rush leaves, she has the inside track to get elected. A Jewish woman with a large natural base, she is the frontrunner. She's not known for taking stupid chances (like running against Baroni for senate), but running for the House without having to give up her Assembly seat is an entirely different story.
Linda..
That was back in 1999..I think she's changed her ways since then. I dont think she would know what to do in Congress, furthermore I think stronger dem women like Karcher or Watson Coleman would be encouraged to run if Greenstein even signified she would run.
Progressives are still mad at her for her pass during the pointless state Iraq vote as well.
Bonnie Watson Coleman
Clearly the Maj. Leader is the best candidate of this bunch. Her knowledge of the issues, ability to communicate and experience around the state as Chair of the Dem. Party distinguish her from others on this list. Besides its time we bring a woman to the Boys club called the NJ Delegation.
Who is Juan Melli?
Who is this person? Is this some kind of joke? Is he Wally Edge's brother or something? I have never heard of this person....
Karcher and Watson Coleman
Sorry backwards, the above two are not stronger than Greenstein. In fact, Greenstein is smarter and more articulate than either one. Progressives won't be angry once they hear that Linda was beseeched by veterans groups to vote against the resolution.
Dino, always a class act
I didn't see Dino on the 100 most powerful politicians list this year. Certainly not above 17.
Who is Ron Paul?
Who is this person? Is this some kind of joke? Is he Pat Buchanan's brother or something? I have never heard of this person...

Juan for Congress!
It's possible that Juan is too cool for all y'all.
georgeajjan
hey Ajjan: isn't Ron Paul the guy with more cash on hand than McCain?
You're jealous Dino
Good for you Juan.
Can someone please explain...
...to "Mr. Democrat" how my sarcastic remark about Ron Paul mirrors the one by "Demsanddonts" that appeared slightly earlier, and perhaps connect the dots for him. Thanks.

Juan Melli...Mr. Insider?
How does Juan Melli for Congress make any sense? This guy is a geek who sits behind his computer all day postulating about the need to liberalize America. What a tool! I say the candidate should come from Mercer or Monmouth. I think Panter is likely the best pick. He's fairly young, aggressive and has proven to be a serious fundraiser, according to his ELEC reports.
Contingency plan
Those of you opposed to Melli had better start organizing! I recommend forming "Porteños for Mike Panter", for a start.

All you Melli haters ...
Lord almighty, can't any of you tell a joke when you see it? Jeebus.
That was my question.
Is this a joke? Like Jose Jimenez from the old Ed Sullivan show....
Linda Greenstein needs to be arrested by the fashion police...
because she is hideous...
Alan Karcher + Linda Greenstein = ?
Alan, are you kidding me? Greenstein smarter and more articulate than BWC or Ellen Karcher? I'm sorry, but you need to stop trying to impress your boss here. She cannot think on her feet, or at any other time for that matter- just ask Baroni!
Who is Juan Melli
Who is this person? Is he a real person?
the answer
Juan Melli is....
Wally Edge!
Karcher, Karcher, Karcher
Karcher is the future for Democrats in NJ. No one else on this list has the courage and talent she has.
Greenstein aint my boss tough guy
We can have a legitimate debate about who the strongest candidate is for Rush's seat. But one thing is a truism: Greenstein is more articulate than all three women on that list. You can take that to the bank. I've never heard BWC or Ellen Karcher utter a coherent sentence.
Leiter
Dino, 1) she never flat out said "no way" 2) there's a small difference between her and Leiter Hillary would speak about not looking past the next election and would dodge the question in ways that people often dodge questions. And she had a reason to dodge them...wanting to enter later, needing to coast to re-election, and many more pretty obvious reasons. What need does Leiter have to be sly? Will people stop listening to him as an announcer? If anything, he needs to start EARLIER since he has, ya know, no actual qualifications to be a U.S. Senator. He's not running. Sorry.
So you're not her father?!
I think Karcher is quite articulate and passionate about the issues. She does it for me.
Karcher is great
My previous comment requires clarification. Ellen Karcher is a great senator and is quite articulate and passionate. I'm just saying that Linda Greenstein is more articulate and a better advocate for her issues. I think Karcher needs more seasoning before she can be taken seriously as a congressional candidate. She is, after all, a first term senator who faces a serious test this November.
perhaps I missed them...
"Linda Greenstein is more articulate and a better advocate for her issues." Karcher's #1 issue is ethics- what is Greenstein's? Check with Baroni and get back to me, Alan. We're talking about a person who couldn't decide if she's for or against the death penalty!
