CORZINE'S RECYCLED DISTORTIONS
-Two New Ads Demonstrate Continued Desperation And That Corzine Will Say Anything To Get Elected-CORZINE’S RECYCLED DISTORTIONS
-Two New Ads Demonstrate Continued Desperation And That Corzine Will Say Anything To Get Elected-
Corzine Ad I - "It's About"
Corzine Myth 1#: "Doug Forrester wants taxpayer to pick up the bill [to clean up toxic waste."
FACT: Forrester supports the "polluter pays" principle. But, Doug believes the first priority should be to address the environmental issue and then determine the best mechanism to fairly generate or recover appropriate costs. Corzine’s statement is a complete distortion of Doug's position.
Corzine Myth 2#: "Forrester opposed New Jersey's assault weapons ban."
FACTS: Forrester Supports Rigorous Enforcement Of The Law That Are On The Books And Strengthen Gun Laws Like Assemblyman Steve Corodemus' Bill To Close The Loophole Which Allows Felons To Buy Ammunition.
Corzine Myth #3: "Forrester is opposed [to the promise of embryonic stem cell research."
FACT: Doug Forrester Has Always Have Been In Support Of Stem Cell Research And Supports Science That Has Given Us The Ability To Do Embryonic Stem Cell Research Without The Previous Ethical Challenges.
Corzine Ad II - "Our Side"
Corzine Myth #4: "[Forrester] has a record of raising property taxes two-hundred percent."
FACTS: When Doug Forrester's Tenure In West Windsor Government Ended 22 Years Ago, The Average Municipal Property Tax Bill Was Less Than $500. (West Windsor Tax Assessor’s Office)
In A Similar Attach "Rebovich Said ... The Reference To The Tax Increase Is Misleading Because It Doesn't Mention The Sewer Project." (Jeffrey Gold, "Forrester uses Kean in bid to rebut ads calling him
'extreme,'" Associated Press, October 5, 2005)
Corzine Myth #5: "[Forrester] had the taxpayers pick-up the tab for eighty-nine million dollars in no-bid insider deals."
FACTS: BeneCard's Contracts Are Not 'No-Bid Insider Deals, But Are Awarded Only After A Competitive Screening Process In Which They Were Evaluated Each Year By Private-Sector Consultants Hired By The Local Governments. Those Government's Also Retain The Right To Opt Out Of A BeneCard Plan If They Do Not Get The Best Price.
Forrester's Company Wins Contracts By Providing The Best Possible Value For Municipalities Who Want To Provide For Their Hard Working Employees Important Prescription Drug Benefits.
BeneCard Wins Those Contracts Because They Save Municipalities Money.
Benecard Has Saved Individual Municipalities And School Boards Hundreds Of Thousands Of Dollars Per Year And Local Property Taxpayers Have Saved Money At The Same Time That Their Employees And Their Families Have Received Some Of The Most Comprehensive Prescription Drug Benefits Available Anywhere.
Corzine Myth #6: "[Forrester's] been sued for fraud for pocketing prescription drug rebates that should have gone to people."
SPECIAL DISTORTION WATCH: This Is The Biggest Distortion On This Attack To Date. Corzine's Wording Here Is Very Different Than Even The Politically Motivated Lawsuits By Fellow Democrats Which Questioned Rebates Not Going To Municipalities Not "People" Like The Ad Claims.
Fact: The Lawsuit Referred To Was Politically Motivated And The Municipality's Cost Rose After They Left Benecard.
The Trenton Times Said This Lawsuit Was Politically Motivated. "...the move looks like nothing more than a contrivance to boost the struggling campaign of Sen. Robert Torricelli, a fellow Democrat, against Republican challenger Douglas Forrester, co-owner of Benecard." (Editorial, "Torching BeneCard," The Trenton Times, September 19, 2002)
Democrat Mayor Admitted The Lawsuit Was Politically Motivated. "From the beginning, Gilmore acknowledged there was a political component to the township’s review of its BeneCard contract..." (Michael Jennings, “Hamilton dumping Forrester’s Benecard, The Trenton Times, September 5, 2002)
"Gilmore said his complaints about BeneCard are designed to help Torricelli, a fellow Democrat...'Of course there's a political element...Gilmore said." (Mark Perkiss, "Gilmore rips Forrester," The Trenton Times, June 20, 2002)
"Since Dumping Benecard, Hamilton's Costs For Prescription Drug Coverage Have Risen Almost 28 Percent, More Than $436,000, According To Figures From Township Officials." (Darryl Isherwood, "Issues of politics, savings in drug plan," The Times, April 6, 2004)
Corzine Myth #7: "In court, his lawyer gave Forrester's defense: If somebody throws change on the table, I can put that change in my pocket."
FACT: Benecard Has No Contracts With Any Pharmaceutical Manufacturers For Rebates. None Whatsoever.
This Quote Was Not A Defense Of Taking Rebates But Benecard’s Lawyer Making A Comment About A Point Of Law To Illustrate An Issue In Court.
