Forrester: Ringwood Cleanup Is Urgent Priority
Contaminated site poses unacceptable health risks to area residents

(WEST WINDSOR, NJ) - Gubernatorial nominee Doug Forrester today went to the Ringwood Mines to denounce the industrial contamination that was allowed to occur and fester there.

"The people of Ringwood have been waiting years for this site to be cleaned up," Forrester said. "This is a colossal failure of government to adequately protect the health of its citizens. As Governor, I will take immediate action under the State's 'Spill Compensation and Control Act' to decontaminate the site."

The Ringwood Mines area has undergone multiple, inadequate cleanups under supervision of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Since the closure of the Ford Motor Company manufacturing plant that operated at neighboring Mahwah from 1955-1980, contamination from solvents, parts and paint sludge from the factory has been found in nearby communities.

Standing with Forrester today to speak out about the urgent need to clean up the contaminated site were 40th District Assemblymen Kevin O'Toole and Dave Russo; Passaic County Freeholder candidates Victor Rabbat and Frank Gaccione; and Ringwood Councilmen Scott Heck and William Marsala.
