Ferriero to Johnson: Quit

Bergen County Democratic Chairman Joseph Ferriero wants Gordon Johnson to "heed is own advice" and decide if he wants to serve in the State Assembly or on the Englewood Council.  Johnson, a Democrat, called for the elimination of dual officeholding at a government reform press conference this week.

“I am calling on the Assemblyman and the Councilman to lead by example and follow his own suggestion,” Ferriero said in a letter to Johnson. “Without the action to back it up, Gordon’s plan amounts to little more than a lecture to the people of the 37th District to ‘Do as I say…not as I serve."

Johnson and his running mates, State Sen. Loretta Weinbeg and Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle, recently offered a five-point plan aimed at ‘cleaning up New Jersey.’ The plan calls for eliminating potential conflicts in the legislature by eliminating dual office holding and requiring that those who serve in the Senate or Assembly hold ‘legislator’ as their sole means of employment.

Ferriero also renewed his call for the District 37 Democrats to say why their criticism of government legal fees didn't include $12 million paid by government entities this year to DeCotiis, Fitzpatrick, Cole & Wisler, where Huttle's husband is partner.  The DeCotiis firm made nearly $200,000 in political contributions, Ferriero said.

Why don't you and Sarlo quit double dipping!
You want to be a leader? lead by example!

Dem on Dem Crime

Why can’t Joe pull the votes down in Trenton and get an addendum to the dual office ban? I’m surprised that Huttle isn’t pushing him to give up a spot as she took the high road finishing her freeholder term and not rerunning when she moved up to Assembly. Also it should be noted that the 37 Assembly candidates Frank C. & Woj S. have been calling on Johnson to give up one of his elected spots - I understand there was something weeks ago in the TwinBoro News & Hackensack chronicle as well he was confronted with this at street festivals.

Did Molinelli give Ferrerio a get out of Jail Free Card ?

Its time that Chris Christy and a Federal SWAT TEAM to come to Hackensack and impound the files of every county county Dem.

Resign?

While he's at it, he can ask the following people to choose between one elected position:

* Paul Sarlo (senator & mayor)
* Gary Schaer (councilman & assemblyman)
* Bernadette McPherson (mayor & freeholder)
* Connie Wagner (councilwoman, freeholder)
* Elizabeth Calabrese (councilwoman, freeholder)
* Jimmy Carroll (mayor, freeholder)

If you live in a glass house...

So many Democrats with more than one elected
positions. All this talk about ethics is a real joke.
Demsanddonts You forgot to mention
that Sen Weinberg was a Concilwoman and also in the
Assembly for years. All of them are the problem and
they got the nerve to come foward with ethics reforms
Is a shame we have such a stupid electorate that still
votes for those who lie and steal from them and not for the real "Clean Candidate" in district 37th like
Nibot for Senate, and Cifarelli and Siemachewicz for
Assembly. They can bring back honestty to the district

At Least Sarlo and Ferriero are capitalists...

Gordon Johnson is another leftist from the People's Republic of Englewood and his soft-on-crime, ultra-liberal views don't belong in the Sheriff's Department.

I don't have a problem with double-dipping, but not with an organic fruit chip like Gordon Johnson.

Dual job holding is just a small portion of the real problem

You have attorneys all over state earning hundreds of thousands in legal fees plus a salary to boot.

Dennis Oury's whole law practice is based upon municipal work.

You have a whole culture of lawyers, architects and engineers who have become millionaires based on who they know in government and nop what they know about the law, engineering, accounting or architecture.
