The U.S. Attorney's subpoena of Englewood Democratic Municipal Chairwoman Violet Cherry's records today has become an issue in the 37th district Democratic primary. Cherry, is backing State Sen. Loretta Weinberg, Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle and Assemblyman Gordon Johnson against challengers supported by the Bergen County Democratic Organization.
“You’re known by the company you keep, said Englewood Mayor Michael Wildes, who is running for the Senate. “And Loretta has been working hand in hand with Ms. Cherry for years. The U.S. Attorney’s Office has opened a probe into Ms. Cherry’s actions and it’s high time Loretta walked the walk for all the talk of open government that she’s known for.Federal prosecutors delivered the subpoena this morning, seeking records related to the Health Department, the Municipal Democratic Committee, and the Englewood Democratic Club.
"The level of hypocrisy and arrogance of the BCDO attack is remarkable but hardly unexpected. Our opponents have begun their campaign by trying to tear us down—because, sadly, they have no positive reason for running except to do the bidding of the County Chair," the incumbents said in a statement. "There are important issues facing our communities. We should use this campaign to debate the best ways to make our schools the best they can be or how to make health care more affordable and accessible or passing tougher gun laws to make our neighborhoods safer. But our opponents would rather throw mud and spread malicious falsehoods. Making lives better - not hurling false insults - is what unites us as real Democrats."

You're known by the company
You're known by the company you keep. And what company do Michael Wildes, Ken Zisa, and Cid Wilson keep? Joe Ferriero. Enough said. I can't wait for Rome (BCDO) to fall.
Can't wait for Rome to fall.
You'll have a long wait. You bigoted Republicans are finished in Bergen county. And Democrats who think they shouldn't support the BCDO should try to remember what it was like when Bergen was under total Republican domination.
Oh Just wait until you see
Oh Just wait until you see the new brand of Bergen County Republicans....rumor has it that they are younger diverse and sharp.
Senator Weinberg – A REAL Democrat
Taxpaying residents expect integrity from elected officials. Are string-pulled puppets and hand-picked candidates of the BCDO Boss the right choice? I don't believe so. I fully support the Senator's drive for restoration of true Democratic values and any real Democrats brave enough to join that fight. It is time to eliminate the "stink" factor that has permeated many of our communities this past election and to end the political patronage positions which appear to be required to feed the coffers of the BCDO Boss and his Machine. What also appears to be standard BCDO Machine tactics -- half-truths, maligning of character, mudslinging, and creative spin designed to "dupe" the voting public into supporting its string-pulled puppets. Marginally truthful campaign literature will also bombard the unsuspecting public lulling them into a false sense of security and, hopefully, sway their votes. IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE. It is time for a return to true democracy. It is time for individuals of the highest integrity like Senator Weinberg to bring back our Democratic values and do what we all were elected to do - work for the taxpayers, not the BCDO Machine and its Boss.
