Edwards backer Sedita would back Obama

Warren County Democratic Party Chairman Mike Sedita said if the news is true about former Sen. John Edwards giving up his presidential aspirations, Sedita would back Sen. Barack Obama over Sen. Hillary Clinton.

"I would definitely be supporting Obama because he’s the more progressive candidate," said Sedita, who is a delegate candidate for Edwards on the Feb. 5 ballot.

"Some will vote for Edwards on principle," said Sedita. "I think it is time to have a new generation take over. I think the country is looking for that, and I think Obama represents change better than Hillary does."

Sedita said Edwards was making a good choice to exit the race at this point after losses in key primary states.

"Obviously Edwards was the odd man out for quite some time," Sedita said.

Does Sedita's opinion matter?

Mike Perrucci has an iron grip on the Warren County Democrats and alot of influence in the county GOP through his law partner County Republican Chairman Doug Steinhardt.

Proud of Edwards

Edwards has shaped the Democratic field with his aggressive domestic and international policies and his vision will be continued even after he drops out of the presidential race. I'm very proud to have supported Edwards and volunteer for his campaign, one based on substance and the promise of a better future for the middle class. Like Sedita, I plan on helping the Obama campaign now.
