Democrats win Burlington

Democrats Chris Brown and Maryanne Reinhart have ousted Republican Freeholders Aubrey Fenton and Stacey Jordan in Burlington County, and Democrat Timothy Tyler defeated Republican Gary Woodend in the race for County Clerk by a 54%-46% margin.  The GOP majority on the Burlington Board of Freeholders is now reduced to 3-2, and Democrats now have a County Clerk and Surrogate.

Huge news

A Democrat hasn't been on the freeholder board in BurlCo since, well, decades. And Tyler winning the Clerk position is also incredible news. Rick Perr and Barack Obama, take a bow.

Another fine job.......

Another fine job by the Layton/Paulson gang!!

11/04/08 10:55 pm

congrats to all

with help from republicrats!

11/04/08 11:57 pm

told ya...

Layton should be slapped...

11/05/08 3:04 am

Layton is to blame!

Layton is the one that caused the rift in the party and Paulsen hand picked him. Its time for change, change in party leadership. The only thing Layton has won is a general election in an off year in the 8th district and a primary. And he outspent the opposition 4-1 in both. Congrats Fat Bill on ruining the Burl Co GOP. Thats what happens when you run candidates that are not qualified and are hand picked to be yes men. Maybe county committee will wake up now and get rid of you worthless fat ass.

p.s. i guess Diane was the better choice for congress after all

congrats to Chris Brown a real stand-up guy!

Actually.......

The so called republicrats warned the GOP that if they ran these unqualified candidates that they would lose. They didn't want to listen. Instead, fat Bill figured they were just flies on the windshield. Well Bill, I think your windshield is cracked. Go drown your sorrows in scotch and pizza you incompetent buffoon.

We'll see if Papa Paulson wants to pick up the tab for your loans because you won't get a dime from anyone else.

Congratulations to Dems who ran a clean campaign despite the smears and lies circulated by the GOP thinking that their same dishonorable tactics would fly with the voters. For the few republicans left in county office, you better reconsider your alliances if you want to stay there next year!

Guess what Glen, the party's almost over? The fat chairman is singing.

LMAO

Well said! And the funniest thing I have ever read on here.

I agree, the republican elected officials left should cut ties with Paulsen/Layton or go down with the sinking ship on High St. Bill Haines and Jean Stanfield need to step up and take control of the party. We need new leadership!

11/05/08 12:11 pm

I couldnt agree more

Hopefully the remaining Republican elected officials will continue to be independent thinkers and not let the Paulsen/Layton machine (its a broken machine at best) influence their decisions.

Layton must go, new leaders are needed to bring the Republican party together and offer fresh ideas for the people of Burlington County.

Layton and Paulsen ran candidates, not to protect the residents of the county, but to protect their pay to play money machine....well its OVER. Have fun paying off the loans...what losers.

Much Discontent

There is a lot of discontent and disgust with what has happened in Burlco. We should have never lost those seats and the GOP needs to clean house, everyone from the inept office help, Exec Dir et al to achieve a new beginning.

Now, that is not to say the rouge group should be the ones taking over, because they themselves have angered and alienated many many GOP too.

The GOP has a chance to rebuild if they are truly serious about staying the powerhouse they were.

But, the small silver lining in all of this is that Tim Tylers Clerk seat is an UNEXPIRED seat which means he has to run again for the FULL 5 year term next year!

The GOP has a small opportunity to take it back if they are smart.

Pablos same hack from primary defending Layton

The only people responsible for alienating members of the party are Layton/Paulsen.

And according to the ballot the Clerk was a "FULL TERM". check your sample ballot!

The party does need to be rebuilt, but without Layton, Paulsen, Farias, Delany, Lambaise, Nykita, Baxter, England, Strobel and the rest of the hacks that have ruined the party.

East 8th

I will say it again, I am not happy and I agree the GOP should have never lost any seats.

However, East, your group that was led by Sarcone and her group are not the ones either. It would not surprise me if those members also went out of their way to hurt the GOP because their egos got hurt.

Bottom line, those folks are not the answer either and you know it. So my question is, what do you do to bring people back with new leadership? Trust me, the other group is far from the answer too.

OH nad the clerk position is a 5 year position. Do your math; this was an unexpired term because Haines left to run for the Senate.

11/08/08 1:14 pm

Oh

Let me enforce one more thing; that rogue group led by Sarcone et al and her backers helped to split the party too. Until you can admit that they too were the cause and I am starting to believe that they helped to hurt the GOP too, then we all lose.

11/08/08 1:16 pm

Layton split the party not Sarcone

Until Paulsen is out of the picture nothing will ever change. That includes his law firm robbing the tax payers dollars. All the Sarcone team did was give the voters a choice and point out that candidates should not be annointed. You still dont get it, they won because they took a stand for what they believe in.

And there is no such thing as an unexpired term for Clerk. Constitutional postions are full term. Haines had ONE year left on his term. Tyler is elected to a FULL 5 YEAR TERM!

11/08/08 9:25 pm

WRONG AGAIN

NO read up, Haines term was up in 2009!

Because he left the seat with over 14 months left in his term, it is un-expired! So Timmy is oing to have to run AGAIN in 2009. They appointed Wade Hale to fulfil that obligation.

In any event, Sarcone and her bruised ego split the party too; she could not accept the decisions made and she and a few others stuck it to Layton because of her ego.

I think she is not a nice person or the brightest bulb and the fact that it has been proven exactly as to how she behaved and how her anger over not getting picked started is ball rolling.

Too bad that she could not wait a year but now, she runs again for a County seat again, she will get a bigger spanking now that she got in June.

11/09/08 8:58 pm

East is right!

Tyler was just elected to a full 5-yr term. He is not up again next year. Like the rest of your comments, you really don't know what you are talking about.

11/09/08 10:02 pm

hmmmm

do not think that it is right but will check it out tomorrow.

I guess anyone who does not agree with East and his/her SSS group is wrong, but, hey, gotta do what helps you get through the day.
