U.S. Rep. Rob Andrews is calling key local Democrats today to inform them he is planning to run for his congressional seat after months of vowing he would not. The veteran Camden County Democrat is expected to receive the full support of South Jersey Democratic leader George Norcross who according to a report on PolitickerNJ.com last week had told Andrews he would respect whatever decision he reached.
Andrews gave up his House seat last spring to run for the United States Senate. He lost the Democratic primary to incumbent Frank Lautenberg.

Shocking
Shocking that a politician has lied... When are we going to get some lawmakers who keep to their word???why not just go work for Goldman Sachs and make tons more money???You had the stupidity to run against Luatenberg and now you should take the high road and leave...
Anyone want to bet he runs against Corzine in 2009????
Shocking indeed
I hate...I mean I relish screaming at the top of my lungs "I told you so" Of course I dont pretend that I am the only one who could see this coming, but its so smarmy, so obvious, and so underhanded that it makes me wonder how much longer GN can keep his grasp on power. This flies in the face of democracy, and the Democratic party. Rob Andrews was, is, and will be a scumbag puppet to a scumbag puppet master.
Buhbye
There goes his credibility. Now I won't be surprised if he runs against Corzine. Question is, will he pull the same dumb stunt and go back to his seat after Corzine wins.
He should of laid low and ask for the Lt Gov. seat. Donald Norcross would of been better.
Bottom Line...
It's legal, and if his own constituents can forgive him for lying to them....then he deserves to win back the seat and they deserve him.
Hey, he's just "changing his mind"......again.
No doubt Boss George has a great deal cut for all concerned/connected Players.

WTF,,,
I can't await peterendina's commentary... I once had respect for Andrews and saw him moving on to bigger and better things but this truly underscores what a scumbag he has become... and South Jersey's no better...

Piece of Garbage
to sum Andrews up. The ultimate loser and liar!
Andrews, Your Better Than This!
Dear Rob Andrews, I'm a Democrat from Camden and tend to side with you on most of the issues. That being said, when you REPEATEDLY told the public and the press you would not run... I believed you. This decision stinks for 2 reasons 1) You made a pledge and gave your word 2) this is UNdemocratic. This is not a true Democracy when you have your wife "run for office" then step aside, once you have been beaten for higher office. This is what is wrong with NJ politics. I'm sick and tired of our "leaders" saying one thing and doing the exact opposite. Sometimes you have to point the finger of hypocrisy at your own party and this is one of those times. I'm disgusted and I expect better than this from our leaders. Andrews you claim to be a man of character, stand by your words-- if a Republican promised one thing and then did the exact opposite, you would have correctly called them on it. Don't be a hypocrite, live with the results, you made promises and lost. That happens in politics. Take the high road instead of the personally convienient road. Live up to your words and do as you promised. If you go back on your word now... you will have lost all credibility to me and many others. How can the public trust you if you don't shoot straight with us and do what is politically convenient only for yourself? If you want to run again in two years, that would be a different story, voters would have a choice. Your character and credibility is on the line-- please do what you know is right!
Mr. Good Gov.
Andrews is not and never was better than this. This was is and will be the True Rob ANdrews
Let Me Put it This Way....
Rob Andrews is a liar. He doesn't deserve to be re-elected.
Unfortunately, the Republicans have put up an extreme right wing candidate who is even worse....so he will be re-elected.
Get a clue dear Republicans. NJ is not Alaska.
If Republicans start running socially moderate (that means pro choice, pro marriage equality) fiscally conservative reform anti machine anti pay to play candidates; then you will win more elections.
Andrews needs to be primaried and defeated next time out.
The established Republican and Democratic parties of NJ BOTH suck!!!
I hope that was clear enough for even the the mentally challenged to understand.

New Jersey will benefit by having Andrews back.
For all the drama and self righteousness of those commenting, it's imperative that folks must look at the bottom line.
Rob Andrews is an extremely capable legislator with a very positive learning curve who has seniority and an important sub-committee chair at time when this economy has tanked and employment, with inducements for an efficient and productive workforce is extremely important!
As a volunteer lobbyist I've worked with many legislators on both sides of the aisle on a state and federal level. Andrews has kept his word! That counts ... a lot! I cannot say that about everyone!
I was present when his subcommittee was holding hearings on employment, we heard testimony of a retired special forces Army Colonel, an elite counter terrorism expert , who was hired then immediately fired by a Bush Administration official before starting the job because of obvious bias that put social ideology over what is best for the actual security of America.
I recall that the Republican challenger was making a stink over the hearings ... (Gee, a congressman with a committee chair actually taking things seriously.) The challenger, had he actually watched the hearings, I'd imagine would have been totally embarrassed for making his disparaging remarks.
Andrews knows his district and has shown himself to be a proactive leader. A leader, not a backbencher that is all too common in Congress. Do we agree on everything? No. Is any human perfect? (Even Dubya finally admitted to a "misteak"). Folks, this is reality, and Andrews has demonstrated on more than one occasion that he can correct course and do the right thing and the smart thing and the good thing for our Country.
You have to respect him for that. Consider the alternative!
When
Are you going to get paid for your glorified and some what desperate rant about how wonderful Andrews is?
Yes, you are a hack for Andrews and yes, he is a liar and yes, there is a good chance for the first time in as many years he stands a good chance of losing his seat to someone who is not a political puppet, does not lie to his people and the public and does not have the obsession of having a title to his name.
For the first time, an opponent is actually publically calling Andrews for what he is; a glorified liar!
pablos3
The answer is no! ... and no!
Volunteer means not getting paid!
What part of the English language do you not understand?
As far as Andrews' opponent ... he's got nothing positive to offer, so all he's got is negative words! if that impresses you ... oh well!
