Who's Who of Friends of the Kushner Family
I think this site just jumped the shark
LAYTON #90
His organization is falling apart! NO ONE respects him!
power list
great call on john mara!! When all these temps move on, he'll still own the best football team in the history of the world, and he'll still have governors and senators and congresmen and everyone else sucking up to him!!!!
cc stern AND umdnj, ashcroft..includes but not limited to.
The list is liberally sprinkled with a comedy of front men who(most of them) couldn't make a decision if a gun was put to their head(today's Supreme Court Decision notwithstanding). It is loaded with losers(read Andrews supporters). However, "This won't hurt them." We'll see. There are some Spitzers in the "top 100". There are some mcgreeveys(don't read gay). There are some playa playas(paterson slang.)
Wally Edge
Wally should be on the list, he's too modest.
I mostly agree with the list, I think. But can't see how Abelow has much power at the moment if he's really on the way out and is lame duck.
Steve Goldstein?
Any so called "Power List" that has him at #27 can't be taken seriously. This is New Jersey, not Manhattan or Hollywood.
PolitickerNJ has figured it out. Let's create an "ego boosting list" to sell advertising. Beyond that, the list is sadly ridiculous.
How many people from Hudson or Essex are on the list?
Vote Column - All the way!
Margolin
i agree with margolin being in the top 5, he's the best reporter in the state (not including pizaro and friedman) and his sources are all lower than him on the list. but, why no herb jackson?
thank you...
...for dropping George Norcross from 2 to 3
Traz?
Ed Traz doesnt make the list, even though his candidates smoked both Message and Media (#32) and George Gilmore's (#41)candidates in the last 8 months? What did the check for his ad bounce?
Bizzaro and an Omission
Bizzaro:
28. Archbishop Myers? Are you kidding me? He has closed schools, churches, and now two hospitals in Newark. There is NO WAY this guy is a power player!
98. Mike Murphy? Should this guy be WAY higher. By reaching down south he has become much more influential.
Omission:
RANDY MINNIEAR. This guy has become the go to guy on healthcare policy and politics. With the CEO of NJHA retiring, Minniear will have to be the glue.
way off on a few
There's some very questionable calls here, but most of them can be debated.
But Gearhart is up way too high, and David Pringle simply doesn't belong on the list...nice guy, but not nearly as influential as you seem to think.
natural gas
indeed.
I agree, Gearhart is WAY to
I agree, Gearhart is WAY to high.
Brendan Gill
The man overseeing Frank Lautenberg's campaign doesn't get any play for what reason? Maybe he's not a big a mouth or media whore as everyone else but he gets results.
Verplanck Who?
She no longer represents the interests for business, and has become a hack for the left wing of the Democratic party. Ask the average person who owns a small business or the CEOs of most large companies and they will tell you, "the Chamber has become irrelevant."
What a joke
This list is always entertaining, but there are so many people with access to Trenton insiders who do not appear on this list, it is tough to take much of it seriously. Nice try, Wally. Keep at it.
Losing touch with inside power politics?
There are too many people on this list who talk about what other people do. You have to decide if your material is either for marketing, information or entertainment.
My list would include Patti, Brendan, Kevin D, Karen K, and Jeff M. They do things and make campaigns work. They are the go to people in Trenton.
Also, releasing the list without the photos of people who have been in NJ Politics for decades is one more example of how the nationalization of this web site has moved farther away from New Jersey. Bring the real Wally back!
I agree...
...with the comment about Brendan Gill. He was a great campaign manager for Lautenberg. he was also a great field Direcotr for Menendez.
Steve Lenox should have been on this list also. He's an all-around great guy & has been successful with everything he's worked on over the last few years, and has relatiosnhips all up and down this state!!
Hopefully they won't be missed next year.
Steve Lenox...
...is exceptionally good at what he does! He's raised money for candidates all across the state in the past, and is doing good works as Lautenberg's SD. He did his thing with the unions too at one point. I'm sure his rolodex is extensive, and he certainly knows how to engage folks to play "nice in the sandbox."
Enviro-Hack-Pringle makes this list?
This guy is the definition of unprofessional...
Not to mention he got his head handed to him by Greenwald in committee last week...
Good luck making the top one thousand next year Dingle...
None of these folks
make anything happen in urban centers-Cory Booker doesn't count!
Gill and Lenox Ought to Be on
Both are very successful Democratic players. Wilson not being on here shows he has NO power and needs to go!
Modern Battles of Trenton
Through nepotism, cronyism, bossism, spin doctors, sharpers, and stockjobbers, the cement of mediocrity rises, clogging every gear and wheel. Is this a rogues' gallery?
When historians reflect, they will look to this list to search out blame for the Corrupt Bargain at the heart of our times. Ah, the best government that money can buy. Did I hear you say "Machiavelli?" Don't bet the farm on it.
Time for a Change
Freedom-Fighter is almost right. The State Chamber is Relevant and as a business owner I have looked to them for support and know that the staff is doing a great job. As for Verplanck? She clearly is off the reservation. She doesn't have a clue what is going on in the State and it would be a good thing if her board would just cut her loose and let the Chamber move on. If it were not for the Chamber Staff I would agree that they would be irrelevant, but the Business Community has benefited greatly by their expertise, inspite of Verplanck.
George Norcross is a RAT!
I suspect the only reason George Norcross is still on this list and not in jail is because he has ratted out his colleagues to save his own hide. Maybe they should inflate that big inflatable rat in front of his house. Rat.
good omission:RANDY MINNIEAR
Randy isn't a power player in NJ health policy. Vitale's chief of staff Laurie Cancialosi--with a commanding personality, extraordinary work ethic, and ivy-league education--affects health policy more than Randy. She should be on the list since Vitale is on the rise.
Problem is
All of us blank holes are continuing to give these people who call this a legitimate site some credence, because we all respond. Remember when the original Wally Edge had fun stuff we can all read, was honest and not so subjective. I agree that if you don't pay, you don't get anything on here. But much like the SI covers or endorsements from the RECORD, it may be a kiss of death anyway.
At least the Torok's have the stones to put their names on their site and put their money where their mouths are.
Pathetic losers.
