Corzine: Spitzer allegations not the man I know

Gov. Jon Corzine has not spoken to New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer today, according to his spokesman, and released a short statement: "These are serious and disturbing accusations that are completely at odds with the man I know. They come as a complete shock,” Corzine said. “As the governor said, his actions are a clear violation of his own sense of right and wrong. He will have to regain credibility not only with his family but with the public."

The Honorable Aaron Burr, Vice President of the United States

Coming from the man who wants to borrow $38 billion to create a quasi-public entity and raise tolls 800% or more over a normal person's lifetime.  Yes Governor, indeedy, credibility with voters, etc, etc.

Let's see...

As I figure it if you take the time, in hours, that our Gov spent with you know who, and divide it by $6,000,000.00 you will conclusively see that NJ Govs lead the way in paying for a "lady".

From the

stories I've heard through the grapevine, Corzine was tapping everything that wasn't nailed down during his time in D.C.

Craft

Perhaps dear old Charles Dodgson could help clear things up for you, Gov:

Well, “slithy” means “lithe and slimy.” “Lithe” is the same as “active.” You see, it’s like a portmanteau—there are two meanings packed up into one word.  Lewis Carroll [Charles Lutwidge Dodgson] (1832–1898), British author, mathematician, clergyman. Humpty Dumpty to Alice, Through the Looking-Glass, ch. VI, Macmillan (1872).

I would guess the operative word in your case would be "craft" . . . as in, you obviously admire him for his craft.   But as Sir Winston Churchill once wryly observed, "Craft is common both to skill and deceit."

Leave Corzine alone

At least Carla was age appropriate!  To add insult to injury one of the papers are reporting that Spitzer requested  "young girls" of 20-23. YUCK!

Spitzer requested "young girls" of 20-23

I feel worse for Spitzer's daughters.  I can't imagine what they must be thinking.

Everybody - Shut your Eyes, Cover Your Ears, and Go "La Laaaa!"

Mom in Law,

On what possible grounds should we "leave Corzine alone" when he was the one who couldn't keep his yammer shut, and put out the above quoted statement?  He just couldn't resist, MIL, could he?  He is the one who drew this fire!

The statement Corzine put out wrongly suggested that this was just a personal matter, and even strongly implied that Spitzer should remain in office!  How lame can you be?

Corzine said, " . . .  his actions are a clear violation of his own sense of right and wrong. He will have to regain credibility not only with his family but with the public."

Oh, so it is just a matter of Spitzer's own sense of right and wrong that he was caught negotiating and paying for the transporting of a prostitute across state lines for an unlawful purpose?

And it was just a violation of Spitzer's personal sense of right and wrong to apparently violate the structuring laws and personally participate in fraudulent financial transactions by transferring money to a shell company that is a front for unlawful activity?

The fact is that we know Governor Corzine himself has engaged in a series of transfers of significant sums of money to political supporters and, in particular, some to people with whom he must deal as Governor.  Those transfers look seamy, and stink to high heaven!

You would think under the circumstances Governor Corzine would have the basic intelligence to just take a pass on this one.  He didn't.

And, as a result, he is going to get hammered for it, as well he ought!
