BERGEN CAMPAIGNERS KICK OFF “FAIR & CLEAN CAMPAIGN”

Candidates Host ‘Fair & Clean Elections’ Advocate Bill Baroni

HACKENSACK – District 37 State Senate candidate Clara Nibot and Assembly candidates Wojciech Siemaszkiewicz and Frank Cifarelli today kicked off their “Fair and Clean” campaign with a special guest, Assemblyman Bill Baroni (Mercer, Middlesex), who traveled to Hackensack to offer his support to three Bergen County “Clean Elections” candidates.

During his six week Clean Election campaign, Baroni’s team attended nearly three dozen house parties and kaffeeklatschs all over his home district in central New Jersey. Now Baroni is traveling to other Clean Election districts throughout New Jersey to support other candidates who are running “Fair & Clean” campaigns.

“I am glad to be here to support our friends in the 37th district for their Clean campaign,” said Baroni. “While my team in the 14th District has already achieved the maximum contribution limit, I am proud to offer my support to other Clean Election candidates and help make this a reality all over New Jersey. If this program works, we can help eliminate special interests from the political process.”

The 37th District was chosen earlier this year to participate in the Clean Election “pilot” program. The other districts that were selected are the 24th District in Sussex, Morris, and Hunterdon counties, and the 14th District in Mercer and Middlesex counties.

“Our team has and will continue working hard to make ‘Clean Elections’ a success because families all over New Jersey are tired of the ‘Culture of Corruption’,” said State Senate Candidate Clara Nibot. “This program is vital to eliminating the corruption in our state, and I can think of no better person to help deliver our message of fair, clean, open, and accountable government than the one who literally wrote the book on Clean Elections in New Jersey--Bill Baroni.”

Wojciech Siemaszkiewicz, the candidate for State Assembly in the 37th District, noted that Clean Elections will help break the cycle of corruption in New Jersey.

“Certainly, the Clean Election Program represents huge chance for the voters in District 37 to break the cycle of obscene pay-to-play process that takes place in all levels of campaigning here,” said Siemaszkiewicz. “Democrats in Bergen County have perfected this process in last four years bringing in millions of dollars. The Clean Election Program gives the families of the 37th District a chance to take the first step to ending the corruption in our state.”

State Assembly candidate Frank Cifarelli noted how the Clean Elections program will ultimately save taxpayers money.

"I am a proud to be a Clean Election Candidate,” stated Cifarelli. “This is a wonderful system, because it will help to give power back to the voters and taxpayers, lower the effect of special interests and party bosses on our elections, and reform corruption and wasteful spending in Trenton--ultimately helping to save taxpayer dollars.”

According to the “Fair and Clean Elections Act of 2007”, the program will be deemed a success if a majority of the candidates eligible to participate in the program qualify by collecting 400 ten-dollar contributions each. So far, six candidates have met the requirements.

The 37th District includes the towns of Bogota, Hackensack, Rochelle Park, Maywood, Teaneck, Ridgefield Park, Bergenfield, Tenafly, Englewood, Englewood Cliffs, Leonia, and Palisades Park.
