BARONI TEAM EXCEEDS FIRST ‘FAIR & CLEAN ELECTION’ TARGET

Hamilton –  Surpassing the first target of 400 contributions necessary to qualify as ‘Clean Election’ candidates, Bill Baroni, Tom Goodwin, and Adam Bushman today filed well above the requisite number of ten-dollar contributions to qualify as “Clean Election” candidates in the 14th Legislative District. Baroni, Goodwin and Bushman garnered the contributions through a whirlwind six week campaign throughout the 14th legislative district, titled “Fair and Clean in District 14.”

Baroni has accumulated 658 contributions, Goodwin has reached 500, and Bushman 500 total contributions. As one of the authors of the “Fair and Clean Elections Act”, Baroni talked about the success of his team and noted the importance of taking “Clean Elections” to a statewide level.

“In six weeks our team was able to prove that it is possible to run a clean campaign in New Jersey, free of special interest money,” said Baroni. “I believe that the ‘Clean Elections’ program is the most important change for politics in New Jersey, it puts voters first and takes big money influence out.”

Goodwin spoke about the importance of Clean Elections in the fight to eliminate corruption in New Jersey.

“As qualified ‘Clean Election’ candidates, we will continue going door to door and talking with families about fighting corruption in New Jersey,” said Goodwin. “This opportunity for the voters of the 14th District to take part in a campaign free of influence from special interests is the first step to ending the ‘Culture of Corruption’ in our state, and we must continue that fight by eliminating ‘pay-to-play’ and wasteful spending in Trenton.”

Bushman cited a strong grassroots organization as key to his team’s achievement.

“Through a positive grassroots campaign we empowered average citizens in the 14th District to change the face of politics in New Jersey,” said Bushman. “We are now 3 steps closer to making ‘Fair & Clean Elections’ a reality all over New Jersey thanks to the hundreds of volunteers, event hosts, and grassroots organizers who walked door to door, hosted dozens of ‘Clean Election’ discussions, and inspired others to get involved in advancing the case for clean campaigns.”

“We are not going to stop now,” said Baroni. “The ‘Clean Elections’ experiment has given the voters of the 14th District an opportunity to take a stand against the ‘Culture of Corruption,’ and now it is important to continue that fight and use our team’s success to help turn ‘Clean Elections’ into a reality all over New Jersey.”
