Attack of the crappy tomatoes

In her third run against Christopher Campos in a run-off for a Hoboken City Councol seat, Dawn Zimmer believes she has finally found her campaign’s silver bullet. Dawn Zimmer is a candidate on a mission. That mission? Stopping the streets of Hoboken from being overrun with tomatoes -- tomatoes she claims are grown from undigested seeds found in the fecal matter of raw sewage that overflows during flooding.
"We know raw sewage is backing onto our streets. You can't say that this is definitively from the flooding, but it's very possible," said Dawn Zimmer, who does not have a degree in biology or botany, but might very well love to garden.
Her opponent, Campos, has been silent on the issue of fecal fruit -- which may not poll as the number one issue in Hoboken.

I get volunteer tomatoes growing in my yard all the time, and it is never flooded with sewage ... I've always assumed that birds are snacking on tomatoes somewhere else, then sitting on my fence or taking a dust bath in the garden and, whala - prefertilized tomato seedlings!
