ATLANTIC SHERIFF PRAISES CONVICTED FELON
ATLANTIC COUNTY REPUBLICAN COMMITTEE

RELEASE: Immediate, CONTACT: Atlantic County
Nov. 3, 2006 Republican Hdqs.
677-0707

“You (Craig Callaway) are not welcome in our party.
--- Atlantic County Democrat chairman Ron Ruff,
Oct. 17, 2006

“Atlantic County taxpayers expect their elected officials to be not only competent but honest and ethical.
--- Democrat candidate for County Clerk Ed McGettigan,
commenting on Callaway, Oct. 17, 2006

“God bless Craig Callaway.
--- Atlantic County Sheriff Jim McGettigan, Ed’s brother,
Nov. 2, 2006

“What are the people of Atlantic County to believe from these Democrat Party leaders, County GOP chairman Keith A. Davis asked today. “Two weeks ago, Ruff and Ed McGettigan claimed they wanted to throw Callaway out of their party, but yesterday Sheriff McGettigan invoked a divine blessing on him.

“Here we have a sworn law enforcement officer, an individual who should be dedicated to truth, honesty and trust praising a corrupt public official who sold his office, betrayed the trust of the people who elected him, has made a career out of trying to steal elections, and in little more than a month will be packed off to a Federal prison, Davis said.

“The Sheriff is evidently willing to overlook Callaway’s history of public corruption in return for his help in his brother’s campaign and particularly in delivering fraudulent absentee ballots for his brother, Davis said.

“While his appalling comment concerning Callaway should embarrass and shame the Sheriff, it also brands as a lie the statement by Ruff and Ed McGettigan that Callaway is not welcome in their party, he said.

“The Sheriff has now publicly conceded that he, his brother, and the Democrat Party in Atlantic County is willing and eager to throw in with a convicted felon, a corrupt public official, if they can reap some benefit from it, Davis said. “Could they cheapen and demean the process any further?
