PANTER SEEKS STEPPED UP JCP&L RESPONSE TO WINTER ICE STORM OUTAGES

(SHREWSBURY) - Assemblyman Mike Panter (D-Mercer/Monmouth) has been in constant communication with Jersey Central Power and Light (JCP&L) since a winter nor'easter that began Tuesday disrupted power delivery to approximately 100,000 homes and business in the region. "My home and the 12th District office in Shrewsbury have been without heat and electricity for more than 24 hours, so I completely understand the inconvenience caused by these storms," said Panter.

"I am disappointed with the response to a storm that was predicted for several days," said Panter. "For the elderly and those with compromised health, this goes beyond an inconvenience and puts them at risk."

JCP&L says more than 200 line crews, 330 hazard responders, and 100 tree crews have been working to restore power to the more than 20 thousand homes and business STILL without power at 9 a.m., Thursday. Water and Ice has been made available to residents at the FoodCircus Foodtown at 362 Broad Street in Red Bank.

Assemblyman Panter plans to sit down with officials from JCP&L to discuss the company's emergency response plan and to ensure that future emergencies are handled in a timely and thorough fashion.
