Assemblyman Diegnan: Higher Ed Committee Will Hold Hearings On SCI Report

DIEGNAN: HIGHER ED COMMITTEE WILL HOLD HEARINGS ON SCI REPORT

(TRENTON) - Assembly Higher Education Committee Chairman Patrick Diegnan, Jr., today issued the following statement in response the State Commission of Investigation report that found the state's system of colleges and universities "vulnerable to waste, abuse and violations of the public trust:"

"This report merits serious attention and examination.  In the months ahead, I fully intend to have the Assembly Higher Education Committee conduct hearings on the SCI's findings and recommendations.

"The bottom line of this report is that the status quo is not sufficiently working to protect the interests of taxpayers and students.  We need to make sure all possible safeguards are put in place and are operational to ensure maximum transparency, accountability and oversight and to make sure the problems cited in the SCI report do not happen again."
